Diwali is just around the corner and so is the remainder of the festive season 2023. While your ensembles might be lined up already, the glam brief can use some much-needed IG scrolling to bookmark adorable hairstyles. We’ve taken the liberty to get a head start on this and put together festive-ready hairstyles that you can recreate yourself or bring to your stylist to do it for you. Let’s get started with...
1. A wavy, low bun
Buns remain sacrosanct for festive season, and the trendy update comes in the form of a wavy, glossy low bun with face-framing tendrils let down. Ideal for medium length hair, prep your tresses with a shine-inducing formula like the Streax Professional Vitarich Gloss Hair Serum. Create loose waves with a straightener and secure it in a low, twisted bun. Let the tendrils close to your hairline and smooth out any unruly flyaways before stepping put for the day.
2. Wear it down, wear it well
Supermodel blowouts are on the rise and for good reason—they pair well with OTT garbs so your heavy lehengas and churidars will be in good company. Begin with a round brush with a ceramic or metal core and blow dry small sections; move it down the length of the hair while twirling the tool to create volume and waves. To recreate that supermodel volume, lift the roots of your hair as you blow-dry. Use a cool shot once a section is dry to set and finish with a spray.
3.All about that texture
Ponytails aren’t as ‘dressed down’ as you might think! Add some volume and texture before securing your tresses in a mid-rise ponytail. An easy hack to recreate Kiara’s messy texture is to spritz sea salt spray through the body and ruffling up the ponytail. Opt for a light hold formula like the Toni&Guy Sea Salt Texturising Hair Spray which offers long hairstyle hold while also adding shine.
4.Did someone say adorable?
Pull-through braids paired with mermaid waves can get you through anything the festive season throws your way. It’s literally in the name! Invest in gold of silver sting tie to make the look dressier and allow it to be just a little bit imperfect to bring in the charm.
5.Classic French twist
If you’re wearing a saree this Diwali, take the Alia route and opt for something classic with a bit of a twist. This versatile hairstyle can be dressed up or down, it is a timeless look that adds a touch of sophistication to your ensemble. It should be right up your hairstylist’s alley and is ideal for an elegant nighttime event. Accessorise with your favourite florals or chain links to up the ante on the opulence of the look.
6.Accessorised braid
A proper pull through braid but with accessories and texture, this one is perfect for medium length hair looking to switch things up from Dutch braids. Prep your tresses with a leave-in conditioner, preferably an ultra-smoothening formula like the Milk Shake Conditioning Whipped Cream. Experiment with bling to design the braid. Don’t have hair accessories lying around? Reach out for a dainty maangtika to get the job done instead!
7.Minimal half up half down
A list about festive hairstyles will be incomplete without an easy to do half up half down hairstyle. Take a page out of Mrunal’s book and pair a side braid secured in a half up section. And how do you take this to the next level? Throw in the humble Gajra in there!
