If mascara is the frontrunner in your makeup game, you’ll be blown away by what false lashes can do. Fake eyelashes, or falsies, are quite the favourite to take things to the next level. It’s a quick and relatively cost-effective way to give your eyelashes that extra oomph. The catch? Eyelash extensions are pretty difficult to put on by yourself. No, really. Glue, tiny little strands of hair and not-so-nimble fingers can get a little too sticky to deal with.
Still want to give fake lashes a try? Here’s a simple guide:
Step 1 – Trim the eyelashes down
Now that you’ve got yourself a set of pretty lashes, it’s time to pull out the scissors. If you notice, any pair of brand new lashes will be unusually large. It’s on you to customise the size based on the size of your natural eyelashes. Place each of the pair of lashes on the correct eye, measure out where they need a trim, place them on a hard surface, and snip away at the outer corners. Cut off a little bit at a time, just so that you don’t end up trimming more than required.
Step 2 – Glue them on
You need to apply the lash glue across the tiny strip, or band, on your false lashes. Apply a small amount to the entire band first. Then apply the lash glue directly onto your lash line. Pick up your lashes from the centre with an eyelash applicator and place them carefully on to where you applied the glue.
Step 3 - Tilt backwards
It’s human nature to look straight ahead or down at a mirror, but one of the best ways to apply false lashes is to tilt your head back when applying them. This way you’ll place them a lot more accurately.
Step 4 - Press the eyelashes in
Now you need to secure the false lashes. Do this by pressing them together with your natural eyelashes. This will really help blend them together and not look layered.
